Why Buy Organic?

Organic Fruit and Vegetables are Pure Foods. Over the last fifty years, commercial farmers have used more and more fertilisers and chemical insecticides, herbicides, fungicides. Cereal crops are sprayed 5 - 8 times during the growing season, some fruit and vegetable crops are sprayed 10 - 15 times. After harvesting they are sprayed again, this time to 'protect' them from storage diseases.

Heavy spraying of fruit and vegetable crops kill the natural bacteria and supporting life, leaving the plants vulnerable to attack from unwelcome pests. More insecticides and fungicides are then 'needed' to fight off the pests, but at some point the pests become immune to the chemicals being used and their population increases rapidly. More powerful and increasingly toxic chemicals are then used.

Many important minerals, trace elements and enzymes are absent in commercially-grown produce, and even minimal amounts of pesticide residues become an issue, when concentrated in large quantities of food taken as fruit and vegetable juice.
