Manual or hand juicers are most often recommended for juicing wheatgrass, sprouts, herbs and similar fibrous greens. Some are capable of juicing fruit and vegetables, but we would not recommend most manual juicers for juicing hard root vegetables and pulpy fruits. Manual juicers operate like an old fashioned mincer, with a hand-turned single auger or worm screw. They can complement a fruit and veg juicer (like the Champion Juicer), are handy to take with you while travelling and can also be used while camping, on boats, and during power outages. They all clamp to work surfaces, but the Lexen Juicer also has the option of attaching with a suction disc to a smooth surface. All the manual juicers produce a similar quality of wheatgrass juice, but the sturdiness and longevity of the materials the juicers are manfactured from accounts for the differences in price. In general the higher the price the sturdier the juicer, and the easier it is to maintain.
