Blenders
Blenders can be used to make everything from smoothies, purees, bread or cracker crumbs, soups and baby foods; to chop vegetables, cheese or nuts or to crush ice. Some blenders can also grind seeds, grains and nuts into fine powder. Unlike juicers, blenders do not separate juice from the fibrous pulp, so you cannot create a true juice with a blender. Blenders however can create drinks that contain whole fruits and vegetables including skin, seeds, pith and flesh (if desired) by adding water, juice, ice, milk or yoghurt (dairy or non-dairy). Blenders are great for making nutritious fruit smoothies from fresh fruits like bananas, mango, avocado, berries, peaches, etc. Wheatgerm, finely ground nuts, oats or seeds can be added to smoothies for extra healthy fibre. Supplemental powders like wheatgrass, or liquids like flax or hemp seed oil can also be blended in to boost the nutrient levels. With a blender the possibilities are endless!
