The Body Type Balancing Dietby John Morley (adapted from Dr Avabramel's book) |
| The Balancing Diet is the first step in the Body Type Nutrition Program. Whether you want and need to lose weight, or are primarily interested in fine-tuning your metabolism and balancing your glandular system, the Balancing Diet for your body type is the way to start.
This is a restricted calorie diet - about 1200 calories per day. If you are overweight, the Balancing Diet will be the backbone of a weight-control program, and you will be following it (along with the Purification Diet) on a specific schedule until you have reached your ideal weight. (The precise schedule for each type is given below.) If you aren't overweight, you should follow the Balancing diet for your body type for a week; then follow the Purification diet for your type for another week. Experience with my patients has taught me that even if the scales show that you weigh the correct number of pounds, these may not be the right pounds. Your weight may not be distributed in exactly the way you'd like. There might be little pockets of fat here and there - on your hips or outer thighs, around the middle, or on your upper arms - depending on your body type. Other parts of your body might not be quite filled in enough. The Balancing Diet will start these extra pockets of fat moving, and the Purification Diet will eliminate them. Then, when you go on to a Health and Weight Maintenance Program, you'll find your "weight" exactly where it should be, not in the old pockets. Remember, a healthy body will automatically find the weight that it was designed for. Each of the four Balancing Diets is designed carefully for the needs of the particular body type. The diets each have some special features: The Body Type Herbal Teas, the Body type Vegetable Soups, and the Body type Snacks. Be sure to take advantage of these features. I developed them for my weight-control patients, and each one is invaluable in making what is really the hard work of dieting much easier. Each one also fulfills a very definite purpose in balancing the metabolism and eliminating cravings. Be sure, also, to eat all the foods prescribed at each meal and to observe the full interval between meals. These intervals aren't designed to torture you; they are based on the activity cycle of your dominant gland. Each of the four glands does have its own particular rhythm, which means it has times when it is very active and times when it rests. The foods I've prescribed for specific meals for each type are designed to work with the cycle of the gland during the interval between the meals. So you must be very sure to eat exactly what is prescribed in each meal and wait the prescribed time before you eat again. Remember, at this stage or your program you are using food as medicine - and you must follow your prescription carefully if you want the best results. © Copyright Wholistic Research Company 2001 |
