Common Health Problems
 |
| |
This section is about ways that you can learn to help yourself with many common health problems. By "common" we do not just mean simple, nor do we just mean conditions that last a short time. What we mean are problems that occur often : that may mean often for you or often in that they affect a lot of people. This includes conditions that are short-lived and clear up on their own eventually, conditions that repeat themselves, and conditions that you may live with all the time.
The choices that we all make on a daily basis about what we put into our bodies can have a profound effect on the things that come out of our bodies. That may sound simplistic but if you talk to any Alternative or Complementary Health practitioner they will be able to give you many examples of simple changes of habit that have resulted in profound changes in health. Most health problems are responsive to a number of factors that we can often change by changing our own behaviour or by changing one or more of the choices that we regularly make about what to put into our body.
As well as personal choices and habits there are many natural remedies that can help anyone who is suffering a health problem. Vitamin C for colds has become one of the most culturally accepted, and there are many others. Many folk remedies have become validated by science and by experience. In this section we also recommend remedies that you can easily buy over the counter to help common problems. Some remedies and medicines are only distributed through health professionals because they can have side-effects or be dangerous if self-prescribed incorrectly. We mention these also, which means that you might need a health professional to help you. As health professionals ourselves we are keen to dispel mysteries about how our bodies work, particularly the need for drugs in situations that are not life-threatening. We are also keen to help you recognise when your health challenge is beyond your ability to handle it alone, and when you need help from a health professional.
For examples of Health Challenges that can benefit from working with a Complementary Health Professional please see the "Case Studies & Testimonials" and the "Complementary Medicine" sections on the left sidebar.
