My journey through life to now, began in January 1949 with a drunken coupling between my parents - my mother's difficult pregnancy culminated in a difficult labour and I was born on 19th September 1949, already a healer. At times during her pregnancy with me she had been ill but my desire for life kept her going and in one piece, I kept her alive - my little body provided, at times, what she needed. My birth was protracted and exhausting for us both, and at my birth I was whipped away from her and was alone, interminably, it seemed. I was not breast-fed, science and medicine intervened at day one to deny me a strong immune system and sow the seeds of later health issues. Science in the shape of Dr. Spock (without the ears) et al said science was better than nature - here drink this bottle of milk which nature made for a four-footed animal with three stomachs, horns and weighing 2 tons and don't drink this breast-full of milk which nature made for a two-legged, two-armed, upright mammal with one stomach and no horns. Later, diseases were injected into me, my teeth were drilled and filled with toxic substances. My mind was force-fed information, much of it useless if not wrong. A few ear infections and urinary infections were dosed with
antibiotics and in my mid-twenties I woke up. I was a product of everything that had entered into me, minus what had passed out of me and what was left was a strongish constitution (if a little damaged) and a bright inquiring intelligence.

The hippy movement had great appeal "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" flower-power, peace and the mantra "...you are what you eat..." which is truer today than ever before, and one day two Swedish hippies told me that if I ate nothing but brown rice, vegetables, seaweed and miso I would drive all the sugar out of my body and feel better and happier than ever before - my first lesson in nutrition. Since then I have endeavoured to eat as healthily as possible on the principle that food is the fuel of my body.

I have worked in alternative medicine since the mid 70's, initially training in Neo-Reichian bodywork, and Alexander Lowen's Bio-energetics, then moving on to train in humanistic psychotherapy and trans-personal psychology at The Minster Centre. I formed Therapeia, a network of 8 psychotherapists and counsellors and developed my own private psychotherapy practice and ran an experimental mens' consciousness-raising workshop. I also worked as a tutor/counsellor at Kingsway-Princeton College in London, working with disaffected school-age youngsters. During this time I discovered, through the treatment that I received, the power of acupuncture as medicine for mind body and spirit and at the urging of my acupuncturist, enrolled on the Licentiate of Acupuncture course at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Tao House, Queensway, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and graduated in 1982 with a Licentiate of Acupuncture. I married my first wife in 1983 and step-fathered four children. My wife and I established a successfull acupuncture clinic together, first in Golders Green, London, then in Southend-on-sea, Essex. My excitement at the power of acupuncture led me away from the psychology world and since then I have seen, many times, the amazing ability of traditional acupuncture to transform mental and emotional difficulties. The body is made of that which has entered it less that which has left it, and the mind resides within the body and the mind is connected with the spirit which has no particular residence or location - this is my distillation of the teachings of oriental medicine combined with the teachings of western and eastern philosophy and modern pyschology.

Thus, all ailments are ailments of the body, mind and spirit although an ailment can be rooted more in one level than the the others - thus good medicine aims not just at the ailment but also at the level (B/M/S) of the ailment.

In 1984 I enrolled on the Bachelor of Acupuncture course at the same college and graduated from this in 1986. At this time my health began to fail - I became very allergic, overweight and exhausted and my marriage began to collapse. My own acupuncture treatments were propping me up but not solving my problems and I enrolled on The Master of Acupuncture course, looking in part for salvation as well as an improvement in my skills as an acupuncturist. Whilst I struggled with the course I also struggled with my health, finally stumbling onto the mercury and candida problems which were eating away at my health and vitality.

My marriage finally broke down and then I began to get to grips with my own poor health picture and realised that acupuncture could not solve everything, the insidiuous threat to the health of the world and mankind posed by science and orthodox medicine finally got to me, despite keeping myself out of the medics hands for years. My problems were multi-factorial - antibiotic poisoning (from years ago, see above), mercury poisoning and a candida yeast overgrowth. Dietary control, dentistry and detoxing saved me as I staggered through my Masters degree, and met my current wife, with whom I now have 4 children, thus fulfilling a psychic astrologer's bizarre and unbelievable (at the time - 1973) prediction of "...at least 4 and probably 8 children...". I race ahead of myself. As a Master of Acupuncture I had developed a good understanding of the energetics of health and disease and had command of a good tool to influence this energy, but from my own experience I knew that there are health factors other than energetics to consider.

My path led me to work alongside and eventually train with Kitty Campion herbalist and healer, she showed me that nutrition (intake) and elimination (output) was crucial, after all you can tune an engine all day long, and I believe that a good analogy for the how-it-works of acupuncture is that of tuning a car engine, but if you are putting the wrong petrol in the tank it won't run right. And if some one has put bad oil into the engine it will never run right even on good fuel and good tuning. The bad oil, of course being analagous to the mercury in me. I was awarded my Master Herbalist Diploma in 1998 from the The College of Herbs and Natural Healing.

My experience of my mercury/candida problems for myself, and with colleagues and patients, made it apparent that there were many internal (bad oil) problems, mercury, cadmium, lead, food preservatives, prescription drugs, pesticides, and others could all get stuck in a body and act as a toxic/stress factor mitigating against excellent nutrition and excellent acupuncture or excellent homoeopathy or excellent whatever. I needed a method of determining this sort of problem and I have, to date, acheived Intermediate level in Bio-energetic regulatory medicine or Vega-testing. This enables me to assess a person's general health and vitality, determine any food or environmental allergies, identify vitamin or mineral deficiencies, and assess the toxic load. I can also investigate general organ function and armed with all this information in parallel with the case history I can evolve a strategy to enable a body to heal and repair and thus restore normal functioning and good health.

Recently I chanced upon The Kosmed Treatment System and I have completed full training in this therapy with my Kosmed machine. The Kosmed machine is an extension of bio-energetic regulatory medicine and works by engaging in a sort of electronic dialogue with the healing control centres located in the brain and stimulates these centres to work harder to heal and repair. The Kosmed machine has proven very effective in treating both acute and chronic conditions.

Next steps for me are likely to include advanced Kosmed training, advanced BERM training and acquring a new and more computerised Vega-machine. In the meantime I shall continue to work with my patients to improve their health and my free time will continue to be occupied with my children
