Feng Shui Newsletter No 1 : The Real Purpose of Feng Shui
Jon Sandifer, MRSST, RCFSS
It has always been my dream to make contact with a Chinese Master from mainland China who has a traditional background in Chinese medicine, Chinese astrology, Feng Shui and Chi Kung. In June 2000 I received a delightful email from a Chinese professor who had read my book Feng Shui Journey¹ and wrote to congratulate me on the book. He had read avidly many books on the subject that had been published in the West, but specifically wrote to me because he felt that I had discovered an important aspect around the truth of this subject. In essence, rather than regarding Feng Shui as a means of creating abundance, financial security, career success or harmony in relationships with others, he found that my emphasis on health completely tied up with the traditional view of Feng Shui.

He pointed out that it was little known in the West that Feng Shui was, and still is in China, an arm of traditional Chinese medicine. In my book 'Feng Shui Journey¹ I devote a third of the material to an understanding of the Five Elements, their relationship to our internal organs, to our expression, to our health, our diet, our lifestyle, and indeed how these factors are reflected within our home, its décor, the layout and even the lighting.

I continue to communicate with my new-found friend and we are hopefully going to co-author a book on the I Ching in relationship to health and prediction. During his brief visit to London last year he showed me and several of my colleagues two completely new methods for using the I Ching for prediction purposes. It is a delight to meet someone who is a direct link with this rich material and a true source of much of the truth that lies behind this ancient art.
