Monitoring Energy and Vitality by John Morley, MBAcC, MA, BAc, MSocBiol Med, MMAA |

Biological Age is an assessment of our original biological vitality, and how it has been affected by (i) the things we have done in our life so far, and (ii) the stress factors that we are carrying at the present time.
Biological Age is not related to our chronological age in years or to our life expectancy. As you know, there are many old people who have lots of vitality and many young people who are exhausted. When we measure Biological Age the essential thing we are doing is making a comparison between where we are now on the scale and the optimum place we could be on that scale if we got rid of all of the stress factors that are making us biologically older. The difference between these two gives an indication of the scope or capacity that we have for improving our health and sets a target biological age should we choose to pursue a health promoting lifestyle.
A low Biological Age is the ideal. On the 21-point Biological Age Scale, developed by Dr Schimmel in the 1970s using a range of homeopathic dilutions of human connective tissue, higher scores means reduced function and degeneration. Lower scores means more energy and vitality. Unlike our chronological age, we can become biologically younger if we manage our health well. Many factors can make us biologically more aged if we are burdened by them: infection, poisoning by chemicals and metals, allergies, substance abuse, radiation, electromagnetic and geopathic stress, poor nutritional status and reduced detoxification function can all have a negative impact on biological age. So too can emotional stress, obsessive thoughts and depressive tendencies. All of these things are a stress burden that we carry and which makes us older that we might be. They can reduce our vitality and make us physiologically older. Many of them are a result of Lifestyle Choices we have made and they can be removed or resolved so that we can recover some or all of our lost vitality. When we know the Biological Age we can go on to assess the impact that any of these individual stress factors are contributing to it and so determine priorities and the best order of dealing with whole situation. We can also use Biological Age to assess the impact on our overall health of a disturbance in the normal function of an individual organ or system in the body, which is often a reflection internally of the effect of an external stress factor. This is also useful in treatment planning.
The effectiveness of a particular remedy, medicine, herb, nutrient or food can also be assessed before being taken into the body and thus the most effective treatment plan can be developed.
Monitoring of Biological Age, with its numerous implications, is a very useful aspect of any health regeneration plan or health maintenance programme and an essential part of every testing and monitoring session.
Biological Age is monitored using the Vegatest Expert system which is part of the German Biological Medicine approach to unmasking and removing the stress factors that are the root cause of most health challenges. Most of them can be removed if we are ready and willing to do whatever is needed.
