Dogs Thrive on Vegetarian Food
First Reported in the Daily Telegraph
To give your dog a new lease of life, put it on a vegetarian diet. The right diet can halt the onset of canine arthritis, improve a dog's eyesight and even make it more intelligent.

In a study conducted by the US Military, dozens of elderly beagles were fed a special pet food containing grapes, spinach, carrots and tomatoes, as well as vitamins C and E. A second group was fed on regular dog food. After a few weeks , when the two groups were put through a series of tests, the scientists detected a significant improvement in the memories of the vegetarian dogs, as well as their ability to learn new tasks and solve problems.

The authors of the study do not recommend giving your dog a bowl of mixed salad: they say the vegetables must be contained within a processed dog food for the beneficial antioxidants to be digested effectively. If I were a dog person I would be tempted, especially if my dog liked mixed salad or mixed vegetables. Some dogs love freshly juiced vegetables I have been reliably told my dog people friends.
