Parasites Hilary Haynes, MBAcC |

Do you or your patients suffer from dark circles around the eyes, intestinal bloating, food sensitivities, teeth grinding, lethargy, sleep disturbance...?
These can all be symptoms of a very common but hard to detect malaise: parasitic infestation. Parasites can be in the form of protozoa (single-cell organisms), insects and worms. Medical researchers are beginning to acknowledge parasites as being a contributing factor to a variety of major diseases, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colititis, arthritis and rheumatoid symptoms, chronic fatigue syndrome, Epstein-Barr virus, and AIDS. See Dr Hulda Clark's" The Cure for all diseases". Diarrhea and Irritable Bowel Syndrome are now considered as being connected with previous or actual infestations of parasites.
So easy to catch - but not so easy to eradicate. Treatment entails dietery changes, herbs such as Artemisia, Grapefruit Seed extract, pumpkin seeds depending on the chosen armoury of your practitioner, and strategies to avoid reinfestation.
The patient normally shivers in disgust at the thought of these creatures wriggling around inside them. I did when I realised I had them after a VegaTest done by our own editor, John Morley. The refrain then comes: " But I have never been abroad . I can't have them." Wrong - we can be infested by protozoa like Giardia Lamblia from feces-contaminated water. How can we catch that? By swimming, waterskiing in lakes, rivers or streams. Giardiasis is highly contagious and is the number one cause of childhood diarrhhoea . Giardiasis can be spread from animals to humans, and from human to human by contact. Shocked!
The traveller is also bombarded with opportunities for infestation. It doesnt have to be somewhere like my recent trip to India where Delhi Belly was fast and vicious, or Africa where you may be having a quiet pee into the river and the worm jumps up the urine flow and into your bladder. Even the food you eat i.e. unwashed fruit and vegetables can harbour parasites. Do you like the trendy raw fish in sushi? Probably full of parasites. Try marinating fish and seeing what comes out. I haven't tried it but a colleague has- I may never eat fish again.
Poor digestion is sometimes a contributing cause of parasitic infection. Someone who has a low acid level in his stomach won't digest his food properly so whatever parasites come through won't be sterilized out. Children are more susceptible to parasites as their digestive system is underdeveloped and the prevalence of childcare nurseries means they are more exposed to faecally transmitted parasites.
How can we tell if we have parasites? Parasitic infection is almost certainly underdetected, possibly by a factor of 10 or more, and it is very difficult to detect parasites through standard medical tests such as stool samples. They may be hiding in the common bile duct for example. The Vegatest's sensitive methods of testing enable the detection of parasites, their location and the assessment of their impact on the individual's health. This enables the eradication of parasites and the associated disabling symptoms, and the boostingof the immune status of the afflicted person.
Many parasites go undetected for years because either the symptoms have a low impact on the person's health or they get blamed on something else.
Could they be lurking in your system? Find a good Vega practitioner and get rid of those unwanted guests.
Here are some hints for prevention.
*Always wash your hands before eating, after going to the toilet and handling pets
*Maintain a healthy immune system
