Book Review : Food and Healing, by Anne Marie Colbin
by Marijke Vogel, MGNI, MCIA, MIFA
That what we put into our body is most important for the health of our mind, body and spirit, is familiar with most of you clicking on this site. Still there is much confusion. And most of us are too acidic. Even many alternative practitioners are.

To be on the acid side, (and the ideal pH is 6.8 saliva) is causing numerous health problems. We get advice and still don't manage to find balance. Nutritional advice is not always included. We are told to avoid certain things such as wheat, pasta, salt, sugar, cheese or milk. Many people do not know what to eat when cutting out these everyday foods. They get a little bit of information from magazines and newspapers and their problems continue.

This book by Anne Marie Colbin is therefore of immense help to those who want to know more about how food works and how food can affect our minds and energy levels. She does not advocate a strict vegetarian regime. Indeed she believes that some of us need the protein from meat nowadays. She believes that diets should be flexible. We should know how certain foods can make us feel and cut out what makes us feel bad. Can we be addicted to those foods that give us allergies and candida? The author, who also runs a successful cookery school in New York, has drawn on her years of experience living in different countries. Born in Holland and moving to Argentina and now living and working in North America, she studied with oriental macrobiotic masters and European schools of natural health. Her continued search for optimum health has made her one of the most important and broad-minded teachers in her field. This well researched book is a must for lay-person and practitioner alike.
